Julie Carmen designed and implemented the yoga therapy and drama therapy programs at Passages Drug and Alcohol Residential Treatment Center (2001-2003). Julie founded and taught at the first LA Unified School District Pregnant Teens Yoga Therapy Program. She taught at Monte Nido Eating Disorder Center under the guidance of Lauren Peterson and Carolyn Costin, MA. Originally trained as a drama therapist in Manhattan with Ray Gordon of Cell Block Theatre, Julie went on to teach at Exhale Center for Sacred Movement (2001-2013) in Venice California.

After they played best friends in a movie of the week, Julie became Suzanne Somers' private yoga teacher for 21 years and ended up with chapters in Suzanne Somers' books, "Ageless" and "A NEW WAY TO AGE".

Julie Carmen wrote a chapter, "Eating Disorder Complexity and Yoga Professionals" in the book "Yoga and Eating Disorders" edited by Carolyn Costin and Joe Kelly published by Routledge. EXCERPT: "Properly practiced, yoga is extremely valuable for a person with eating disorders. Nevertheless, the disorders' complexity presents yoga professionals with serious challenges. For example, many people with eating disorders also have a history of trauma. Even basic yoking (the practice of unifying body, breath, mind and spirit) can be difficult for people whose bodies have been violated or whose minds are full of unprocessed trauma memories."

As an actress, Julie danced on Broadway, choreographed off Broadway and starred in over 30 Hollywood films. She is currently working as a documentary and film producer.
